About Tachyon
Tachyon is an open-source search engine built and maintained by Aditya Keshri, with contributions from the open-source community.

Tachyon started from a simple frustration: application search — searching, filtering, faceting, and ranking a document collection — shouldn't require a JVM cluster and a distributed coordination layer to get right. Most teams building product search, docs search, or an in-app search box don't have a distributed-scale problem; they have a search-quality problem, and the tooling available made them pay the operational cost of the former to solve the latter.
Tachyon is scoped deliberately narrow: fast, typo-tolerant, self-hosted lexical search, distributed as a single Rust binary, and nothing else. What it doesn't do — vector search, clustering, log analytics — is left undone on purpose, tracked openly on the Roadmap rather than claimed and half-shipped.
The project is source-available and Apache-2.0 licensed on GitHub. Issues, questions, and contributions are welcome there.
